Rehabilitation Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
This full time position is half-time service delivery and half-time research and development.
 
Service delivery responsibilities include participating in a multidisciplinary team with assistive technology evaluation, implementation, training and follow-up services to individuals with disabilities.
 
Services are provided in the areas of augmentative communication, computer access, electronic aides to daily living, adaptive equipment, and home and worksite modifications. Responsibilities include performing assessments, writing reports, providing assistive technology information and referral. Support for training and opportunities to participate in program development.
 
Research responsibilities include participation in the various federally and state funded research projects through the division of Speech Pathology & Audiology.
 
Qualifications:
 
This position is open to qualified applicants with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a traditional engineering field. Three years experience working with assistive technology and individuals with disabilities is preferred. RESNA Assistive Technology Practitioner certification from RESNA is desirable.

AAC Specialist: Speech Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
The Division of Speech Pathology & Audiology invites applications for the following position:
 
Full-time to provide pediatric services: half-time AAC/assistive technology and half-time acute care or outpatient.
 
Service delivery responsibilities include participating in a multidisciplinary team with assistive technology evaluation, implementation, training and follow-up services to individuals with disabilities. Services are provided in the areas of augmentative communication, computer access, electronic aides to daily living, adaptive equipment, and home and worksite modifications. Responsibilities include performing assessments, writing reports, providing assistive technology information and referral. Support for training with participation opportunities in clinical research and AAC program development.
 
Qualifications:
 
This position is open to qualified applicants with a Master's degree in Speech Pathology. NC licensure as a Speech Pathologist and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech/Language Pathology from the American Speech-language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is also required. Three years experience working with assistive technology and individuals with disabilities is preferred. RESNA Assistive Technology Practitioner certification from RESNA is desirable.
